The most wonderful way to build Creative Confidence is to publish, present & produce student writing & storytelling to be read, heard & viewed by authentic audiences. We design learning for students in the Studio Classroom, to make original writing & storytelling visible on the page, stage & screen. The examples below come from RVS classrooms and are just a some of the many ways that we make student learning visible every year!
Heroes & HelpersDoctors, nurses, policemen, firemen, mommies, daddies and even honey bees! Listen to these kindergarten students share their stories about the HEROES & HELPERS in their community!

The VAM AcademyMacki is a published author and artist with her first two books, When I Grow Up and What Makes Me Special available on amazon.ca. She highlights her projects & processes in her Macki Makes Portfolio which is part of her work in the Visual Arts & Media Academy with her teacher, Mr. Gray!

Authors en françaisThese second grade French Immersion students wrote and illustrated their own cirlox-bound books about Canada, which they read aloud to live audiences of all ages.

Urban ObserversThese #rvsed teachers participated in making their own chapbooks at Loft 112 in downtown Calgary. Combining found art, writing and poetry, chapbook projects are endlessly adaptable to the classroom.

Ripples of ChangeIndigenous learning is all about storytelling. These fourth graders learn about the land from its Knowledge Keepers & exhibit their learning in a student-created & curated cultural faire.

Rocky View GeographicThese students combined their original writing & photography into beautiful magazines about the natural world around them. It's hard not to smile at their reaction when the published books arrive!

The Art Journals ProjectWhen these students read a book together about a mythological character, they responded by creating their own original art journals & displaying them in a public exhibition.

Outside the PackIt was the work of many months to research, write, edit and publish an original novel by collaborating as a class to publish the story "Outside the Pack" which you can order online!

Warrior PaintThis group of enterprising students raised awareness & donations for their local food bank by publishing and selling cards that featured their original, cultural artwork on them!

The Human Rights ProjectThese middle-schoolers took their learning from a novel about the theme of human rights & started a letter-writing campaign in their community.

We Are The EarthThese students reflected on their learning about the environment by narrating a series of original documentaries which were exhibited as the "We Are the Earth" Film Festival.

Capturing CreativityThese students worked with Trickster Theatre to write & produce original dramatic works that were performed for live audiences.

Cavalier RecordsThe Cavalier Records project in this high school music academy program exhibited students music & lyric creations in many genres from classical, to rock and hiphop.

Laminar RacingThe F1 In Schools challenge is more than just engineering; it's research, development, design, marketing and art. These students had to "learn how to learn" to make their learning visible to make their mark on the global stage.

The Locked RoomThese students took their favourite novels & stories & turned them into huge interactive Locked Room exhibits for their audience to encounter & unravel the mysteries!

The Bird & the WormThis short animation, written & drawn by tenth grade media arts student, Vanessa P., was selected as the Best Animated Film winner at the Calgary International Film Festival student event. It's hilarious!

The RVS Student Showcase
The RVS Student Showcase shares original, student-created publications, presenations & productions for the page, stage & screen. This online exhibition features creative works of art in an all-digital format. The Student Showcase is an open, inclusive exhibition for all classrooms in the #rvsed learning community! Simply share your students' work in a playlist, blog, webpage or post the link to share publicly!
